Flexing Muscles and Using Elbows in Speech Therapy [Free Download]

Are you looking for a speech therapy idea that will add some serious POP and WOW into your next speech therapy session? Are you looking for a speech therapy idea that will make your students cheer with excitement and cause some spontaneous high fives all over the place? Well, look no further, my friend. Here are 2 speech therapy ideas you can try RIGHT THIS SECOND that I know your students will love!

1. Start flexing!

Stuff crumpled up papers in your students’ sleeves. Tell them to have a muscle flexing contest! Encourage them to explain how people get muscles. Is it by eating junk food or eating healthy food? Do some jumping jacks and pushups right in the speech room to further explain how exercise is important to a growing child.

2. Silly elbows! [Free Download]

Have your speech students attempt to tie their shoes . . . with their elbows! Ask them to explain WHY that’s so hard. Make sure YOU also give it a try because your kiddos would LOVE to see you get silly, too! Also, feel free to click HERE to download a FREE worksheet that contains my 10 favorite elbow challenges. This sheet features miscellaneous elbow activities such as:

  • Try to pick up a book with your elbows.
  • Try to scratch your nose with your elbows.
  • Try to hold onto a crayon and color a picture with your elbows.

In closing . . .

I hope these two random suggestions can bring you and your speech kiddos some speech therapy success. Feel free to tweak my ideas to better fit your style. Oh, and if you like these ideas, please tell your SLP friends about my site. Thanks so much!
